Kentucky basketball: Wildcats open tournament play against Florida
It seems like was just last week I was writing a recap for the Kentucky-Florida game. Well, truth be told it was just last week that I wrote that recap, and not one week later the two teams meet again.
Kentucky Wildcats
Kentucky basketball was able to secure a double-bye in the tourney as the number one overall seed. Eight seed Florida however, had to go through the number nine seed in Alabama, and the Gators were able to trump the Crimson Tide through
Doriann Finney-Smith’sdouble-double. Now, the Gators look to add a digit to that elusive second-column of the Wildcats’ record.
The past two outings against Florida have featured UK victories by an average of 12 points per game. The Wildcats have handily defeated the Gators this season, especially last week in the final regular season game for both teams, featuring a Cats’ dub by 17 points. Despite this fact, Coach John Calipari has a different view for this third meeting.
"They played us great both games, they’re capable of beating us."
Florida certainly is capable of beating the Wildcats, and if they plan on accomplishing the feat the Gators will have to have another outstanding game from Finney-Smith along with Michael Frazier II. Sophomore Kasey Hill didn’t have a big game against Alabama yesterday, but he had a huge effect in Rupp Arena last week, and should be a major influence as well if the .500 Gators want to attempt the upset.
For the Wildcats, all that needs to be said is that the final chapter for perfection is upon this historic team, and each game needs to be taken one game at a time.
Calipari tweeted out a few comments to the Big Blue Nation a few days ago, and they seem very applicable now that UK is just a few hours away from their first game of the post season.

This team truly is historic and special. They have the opportunity to accomplish something that won’t be seen again for quite some time. Big Blue Nation, let’s take Calipari’s words with meaning, and enjoy every minute we are able to watch this team play.
