WKU basketball looks to end slide against FAU

Better days have been seen by WKU basketball and their fan base. But, luckily, they welcome in a one-win Conference USA team to Diddle Arena tonight, so if ever you need a slump-buster, hope the FAU Owls are next on your schedule.

Now, while that might appear to be mean, let’s be honest for a moment – FAU isn’t very good. The Owls fly into tonight in the midst of a nine game losing streak and are the cellar-dweller in the C-USA standings with a 1-13 record (the lone victory coming on Jan. 17th in a 76-62 win against the Herd). While the Owls aren’t getting blown out (for the most part), they still are losing by a handful of games, which is an encouraging thing to see heading into tonight.

However, if you’ll recall, the last time the Tops and Owls tangoed, it needed an extra session to complete, as FAU drained 14 three-pointers to keep things close, only to lose by three. That was also the same game in which

ankles in the first half and still was able to drop 27 points (along with eight rebounds. Likeaboss) in the win.

In this slide, T.J. hasn’t been the problem. Neither has George Fant, who dropped 19 in Sunday’s loss to MTSU. Rather, it’s been a lack of depth and production from elsewhere. No one else scored in double figures on Sunday. It took until there was five minutes left in the UAB game for Chris Harrison-Docks to get going (which he did with five threes to nearly allow the Tops to come all the way back). Trency Jackson is in the middle of a stretch where he has scored, at most, seven points in three of his last five games. And the bench hasn’t been much help, either.

Regardless of the Tops recent struggles, they’re running into a team with just as many, if not more, and the Tops have played well at home this year. I like their chances. After the buzzer sounds in Diddle, check back here at Bluegrass Dominion for your postgame recap and analysis.
