ProToppers Primer: Hilltoppers in the NFL Week 4

facebooktwitterreddit

For the first time in a couple of weeks, we have no ProToppers playing in primetime. As a matter of fact, all three of our ProToppers playing this weekend will be playing at the same time! Check out where everyone is below.

More from Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

Jack Doyle – Indianapolis Colts (vs. Tennessee Titans, Sunday at 12:00 p.m.)
Doyle continued playing out of the H-back last week, and even had this happened!

Mr. Doyle actually set a career high in receptions, with three, and left the guys at Ink on Indy nearly speechless.

The Bowling Green area will get to see Doyle on their TV sets this weekend, as the Titans travel to Indy.

Bobby RaineyTampa Bay Buccaneers  (vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday at 12:00 p.m.)
If you love all of these guys and want to see the do well, I’d advise against a twitter search of “Bobby Rainey.” While, yes, a majority of what you’ll find are upset fantasy owners badmouthing him (and, before that, it was all sorts of fantasy sites saying to pick him up, as he was starting for an injured Doug Martin), it still isn’t pretty, after he had a two fumble game. However, all things considered (especially with how quickly the game turned into a blowout of Tampa by the Falcons), Rainey had an okay outing, rushing for 48 yards on 11 carries. It seems that if Martin is healthy, for the foreseeable future, Rainey will remain the #2 back, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If he feels pressure and continues to drop the ball as a starter, take him out. There are plenty of guys who have had success being the third down and redzone back, why can’t Rainey be the same? Also, in regarding his fumbles, read this.

Jonathan Dowling – Oakland Raiders (vs. Miami Dolphins in London, England, Sunday at 12:00 p.m.)
J-Dowl had himself a tackle last week as the Raiders nearly upset the Patriots, and will head across the pond to take on the Dolphins in London, mate. Another quick search of his name will see a couple of Raiders fans wanting him to play more, and specifically, in the free safety spot, and move veteran Charles Woodson to strong safety. Maybe soon…

Quanterus Smith – Denver Broncos (Bye week)

If you can watch any of the games above, tweet us at @WavetheRedTowel to let us know how the guys are doing. Who do you think will have the biggest week? Who has the toughest matchup? Let us know on twitter or in a comment below.
