For those of you who are on the edge of your seat waiting for WKU basketball to begin…you’re going to have to wait just a teeeeeeeensy bit longer.

Yesterday, it was announced that the WKU vs. Austin Peay basketball game, which was originally scheduled for Friday, Nov. 14th, has been moved to the following day “due to a change in WKU’s schedule in the 2014 NIT Season Tip-Off later that month,” as stated on WKUSports.com and the official press release.

More from Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

While the game being moved back a day is sort of a bummer, check this out – Saturday, November 15th is jam packed  with WKU action. The day begins with the football game against Army (scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff), followed by the 4:00 p.m. tip-off against the Governors. The day will conclude in Diddle as Middle Tennessee comes to town, and the Raiders and Tops will renew their volleyball rivalry in a 7:00 p.m. match which is sure to be one of the great home matches of the year (although, it’ll be hard to top that Purdue match).

Athletic Director Todd Stewart defended the changes, and echos my personal excitement for the 15th:

"Opening the season on a Saturday will be great for our fans, and having two other games that day will allow people to enjoy a full day on campus. We thank Austin Peay for their willingness to move the game back 24 hours to help us adjust our schedule to accommodate both fans and team travel."

As for why the game was moved? The Tops will travel to Minnesota to play their first NIT game on Tuesday, Nov. 18th. Previous drafts of the schedule had the Tops playing on Monday, the 17th, which is why APSU was scheduled for Friday. The game being moved to Saturday helps with travel logistics.

So, while it’s two months away, who’s already looking forward to Nov. 15th? Which matchup are you most excited for? Let us know below in a comment below or on twitter at @WaveTheRedTowel.
