Well, we’ve come to the end of the road, and fittingly enough, it’s with the Texas San Antonio Roadrunners, and their lifesized road runner, Rowdy. Rowdy has a much different look now than he did when first seen in 1977. The Roadrunners beat out other names such as “Armadillos,” and “Stars,” and the original Rowdy was blue with a yellow beak. However, UTSA students and administrators felt he bore too much similarities to that of the Kansas Jayhawk, and change finally came in 2008, as both a new Rowdy and new UTSA logos were revealed on homecoming. Rowdy can be followed at @RowdyUTSA.
