One of the more well known schools in the conference is the University of Texas El Paso, and their mascot, Paydirt Pete, is the second miner that calls CUSA home. Paydirt Pete isn’t the first mascot UTEP has known – first, there was a burro prospector named Clyde, and in 1966, Clyde was replaced by Henry. But, in 1974, Paydirt Pete came to fruition, and has undergone just several miner changes (goodness gracious, am I clever) since being unveiled. The current Pete is a much nicer, friendlier looking version, and was unveiled during a 2005 basketball game. Pete may be a Miner, but he is technologically savvy, and can be found on twitter at @PaydirtPete
