Texas State Bobcats (5-2 overall, 3-1 this week)
The Bobcats are coming off a sweep of UC Riverside, but it wasn’t easy – each win was by two or less runs, and Saturday’s win was a walkoff. Hashtag clutch. And, with a solid record, comes solid sats.Matt Smithleads all hitters with a .429 average, but five other teammates join him with an average above .250. On the mound, Texas State is strong all around (with the exception of two relievers with double-digit ERA’s).Austen Williamshas yet to surrender a run in 13.2 innings of work, and two more pitchers,Tyler DavenportandCory Geisler, have sub-2.00 ERA’s. As a team, the Bobcats are hitting .248 and have a collective 3.11 ERA, and we are just getting started. There is more than enough time for the former number to skyrocket, and the latter to drop. The Bobcats are shaping up to be very dangerous.
