Louisville basketball dominates in 81-59 victory over Florida State

After narrowly escaping the likes of Miami and Georgia Tech, the Louisville basketball team got a much-needed dominate victory over Florida State in an 81-59 victory in the final road game of the regular season.

The Cardinals started hot on offense and even hotter on defense, keeping FSU off the scoreboard through the first seven minutes of the game, helping the Cards’ offense run out to a 10-0 lead. And, even when FSU got on the scoreboard, they were never able to claw their way back and make a game out of things.

The story of the game was a pair of dunks involving the one and only Montrezl Harrell on the offensive end for the Cards. The first came in the first half off an alley oop, in which…well, just watch for yourself.

Nastay, no? The second dunk was even more nasty, as Harrell took care of business all on his own on the other end in the second half.

So, if Harrell is all over SportsCenter later tonight, now you know why!

Okay, back to the results of the game. The starters for Louisville got the job done, with four out of the five finishing the day in double figures.

Wayne Blackshear

stepped up in a big way – just like UofL will need him to do with

Chris Jones’

absence – as he lead all scorers with 18 points.

The Cards shot well from the floor today as well, 48%, while holding the ‘Noles to a 39% mark from the floor, and just 10% from three. Not good.

As great as the starters played for the Cardinals, they also got a pair of stellar bench performances as well – Mangok Mathiang finished with nine boards (leading all Cards) while Anton Gill went off in just 12 minutes of play, going 5-5 from the floor, and 4-4 from three-point-land, finishing with 14 points. On fieah, as the kids say.

The Cards have just two regular season games left, both at home, before the ACC tournament starts.
