Louisville basketball returns to the hardwood against Georgia Tech
The slide is over for the Louisville basketball squad, as they squeaked by Miami with a two point win on Saturday to bring the season’s first losing streak to an end. Well, tonight begins the quest to end the season hot with four straight wins, and the Cardinals embark on their final road swing of the regular season, when they head to Atlanta to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Now, yes, the Yellow Jackets don’t have a very good record. As a matter of fact, they have the third-worst league record in the ACC and at one point went on a seven game losing streak and are coming into tonight having lost three of their last four. But, here are their losses:
AT #14 Notre Dame in two overtimes
vs. Syracuse by one point
AT Pitt by five
vs. NC State by one, in overtime
Louisville Cardinals
So, not too shabby right? Right! Except, they are the only team in the ACC that Boston College has defeated, and they’ve also lost to Virginia Tech – each of which are the only two teams in the ACC standings below the Jackets.
So, tonight could really go either way. It could be a one point Tech win, a one point Cards win or a 57-28 Louisville win (yes, that was an actual score. Virginia had their way with the Jackets at home. Ouch, right?).
Tonight marks the second time in three games that Chris Jones will not be available to take the floor for Rick Pitino’s squad, after he was dismissed from the team yesterday due to unspecified reasons. Jones will be missed, no doubt, as he ranked third on the team in scoring, first in three-point percentage, assists…as well as several other things.
Luckily, the Cardinals still have Terry Rozier. And Montrezl Harrell. And Wayne Blackshear. And…do I need to go on?
As long as Louisville doesn’t shoot 33.9% from the floor, 27.8% from beyond the arc, and can shoot at least 63.2% from the free throw line…I like their chances. Here’s all your game information. As always, check back here at Bluegrass Dominion for your postgame recap and reaction!
