Louisville’s Chris Jones dismissed from team

After serving a one game suspension and playing for the Cardinals yesterday, senior guard Chris Jones has reportedly been dismissed from the basketball team according to Kenny Klein who is an SID at the University of Louisville.

This comes after a suspension issued by the University of Louisville on Tuesday of this past week. That suspension issued didn’t specify what rules were broken by the senior, only a violation of team rules occurred. The statement also didn’t note how long the suspension was planned to last. Jones ended up just serving for one game which came against Syracuse and ended up in a loss for the Cardinals.

The suspension was lifted for the guard on Thursday and his eligibility to play against Miami on Saturday was determined by head coach Rick Pitino. Jones ended up having a decent outing yesterday against the Hurricanes as he totaled 17 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Bob Valvano of ESPN 680 in Louisville, tweeted this out, which for Cardinals fans, might be a bit disturbing.

A whole new incident isn’t exactly what you want to be the case, especially after his stellar outing against Miami, but if Jones no longer being a distraction to the team is what they need to gain steam heading into tournament time, then so be it.

This was Jones’ second year as a Cardinal, as he was averaging 13.7 points, four rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game on the season.
