Louisville basketball looks for season sweep of Miami

Before heading off on a brief two game road trip, the Louisville basketball team will play this afternoon at the Yum! Center, as they look to complete the regular season sweep over the Hurricanes from Miami.

The Cards aren’t coming off one but two tough losses and are on their first losing streak of the year. Louisville dropped a 75-65 home game to NC State a week ago, and took a road defeat Wednesday by dropping a 10 point contest to Syracuse.

In that loss to the Orange, the Cards were without the duty of Chris Jones, who missed the game due to suspension, and saw his understudy step up in a big way, after Quentin Snider netted a career-high 13 points in his first career start. It was Terry Rozier who lead all Cards scorers at Cuse with 17.

While the Cards are on a bit of a down turn (but hey, still 2-2 over their last four), the Hurricanes are on an upswing, having won three of their last four since the meeting with Louisville, and are coming off back-to-back wins over Boston College (89-86, 2OT) and Virginia Tech (76-52). The hot streak for Miami has put them back to .500 in conference play, and are coming off a 21 point performance by

Sheldon McClellan

and a 15 point, 15 board game by

Tonye Jekiri

With five games left in the year, a two game downswing isn’t the worst thing that could be happening for the Cards, but also, what better time to gain some momentum heading into conference tournament play than by getting their winning legs back from underneath them.
