Hilltoppers take two game slide into battle with Blazers

I’m sure, at some point heading in to Conference USA play, we all figured the Hilltoppers would go on some sort of losing streak. It’s the first season of a new conference, there are some kinks to work out, yadda yadda yadda. You know, the usual stuff.

However, what may be the most unexpected part of the Tops going on a two game losing streak is who those losses were to. A disappointing home loss to Rice over a week ago and a road loss to a surging Marshall have not only given WKU their first ever losing streak in Conference USA play, but have also made the Tops slip from their pedestal atop the conference into a tie for third place with…son of a gun, the Blazers!

UAB is the surprise team of Conference USA up to this point in the year, but much like the Hilltoppers, the Blazers are on a two game slide as well, getting swept by North Texas and Rice last weekend, but are capable of beating anyone in the conference, as they beat first-place Louisiana Tech by 20 in Bartow Arena, where the matchup will take place tonight.

The Hilltoppers have the spotlight all to themselves tonight, as the Cardinals are coming off a road loss to Syracuse last night and UK is off until Saturday. Even though we are no longer a “Western Kentucky,” site, you can still head here to Bluegrass Dominion to find all the post game coverage you’ll need.
