#ProToppers news abundant over WKU weekend

facebooktwitterreddit

Good Monday morning, Hilltoppers fans! For those attending WKU, its a somewhat somber morning as well, as its back to school for students and the student athletes. The second semester is upon us, and it sees Ray Harper’s squad alone at the top of the Conference USA standings. And that’s where we will begin today.

  • The Hilltoppers continue to roll through conference play. This weekend saw them retire Courtney Lee’s #32 in Diddle Arena, go to overtime against UTEP and defeat UTSA. Their 7-0 conference start is their best since the OVC days. Yes. The pre-Sun Belt era. Holy cow.
  • You’d never believe it, but it’s true. The Lady Toppers lost a basketball game. They fell to UTSA this weekend by a point, but they return home this week, and are still darn good. Bad news? They’ll most likely re-fall out of the Top 25.
  • As always, we have game grades to hand out after the weekend’s action!
  • We all want him to steal the show in Tennessee, but is Antonio Andrews ready to become a household NFL name?
  • Andrew Jackson found himself in a bit of trouble this weekend, as he was arrested for DUI. To add insult to injury, its the second such arrest for Ol’ Hickory in less than a year.
  • While not WKU news, per se, some exciting one none the less. One of our staff writers, Wally Hughes, has taken the editor reigns over at Four Four Crew! Congratulations Wally, and for those of us who don’t have an MLS team, what better reason do you need to now pick one?

If you ever come across an article – WKU or C-USA related – and you think it’d go great in this segment, send it our way! We’d love to share it with the rest of the world.
