Happy Monday, Hilltopper fans! It was yet another successful for WKU – another conference sweep on the hardwood, two ProToppers are headed to the AFC Championship Game and we added a new ProTopper to our ranks.

  • First and foremost, the Hilltoppers made a bit of history, by defeating a ranked opponent for the first time since 2009 and in Diddle Arena for the first time since 1986, with their 72-65 victory over #25 Old Dominion. For the ODU side of things, check out this recap from our pals at ODUBleedBlue.com.
  • The Lady Toppers continued their dominance by defeating the Monarchs in Virginia 76-60, and guaranteed themselves at least one more week in the Women’s Top 25 poll.
  • For those interested in seeing how we graded the Tops’ in their performances, check out our newest staff writer Tyler Mansfield’s game grades from Saturday.
  • Also from Tyler – he gave us a look at three former UAB Blazers who will be joining the WKU defensive ranks next year.
  • In ProToppers news, Jack Doyle and Andrew Jackson will live to see another day! The Colts defeated the Broncos yesterday in the Mile High City, and will be the third straight year since the Ravens in 2013 that a team with a ProTopper among them will play for a chance to go to the Super Bowl (the previous two teams – ’13 Ravens and last year’s Broncos – both made it to the Super Bowl).
  • Kevin Kaspar made his ProToppers debut yesterday, playing in his first game for his new Turkish team Here’s the box score that was tweeted out.
  • For those familiar with the Bowling Green Hot Rods, you might also be familiar with the Fort Wayne Tin Caps. But, did you ever wonder how Fort Wayne got their name?
