Conference USA Bowl Primer: Seven wins and you’re in

facebooktwitterreddit

The Conference USA bowl schedule is set, and the conference stood true to their word. If you’re at seven wins, you have priority and luckily, there were five C-USA bowl ties and all five seven win-teams got in. The schedule is below.

GILDAN NEW MEXICO BOWL (Albuquerque, N.M.)
Saturday, December 20, 2:20 p.m. ESPN

BOCA RATON BOWL (Boca Raton, Fla.)
Tuesday, December 23, 5 p.m. ESPN

POPEYES BAHAMAS BOWL (Nassau, Bahamas)
Wednesday, December 24, 11:00 a.m. ESPN

HAWAI’I BOWL (Honolulu, Hawai’i)
Wednesday, December 24, 7 p.m. ESPN

ZAXBY’S HEART OF DALLAS BOWL (Dallas, Texas)
Friday, December 26, 12:00 p.m. ESPN

The odd-men out from C-USA are the trio of Middle Tennessee, UAB and Old Dominion who all finished with a 6-6 record. You can understand the argument and displeasure from MTBR fans over not getting a bowl game with a) a better conference record than WKU and b) defeated the same head to head opponents that the Tops lost to in FAU and UAB. While valid arguments, the Raiders lost to UTEP and Marshall while the Tops beat those teams, as well as – in WKU Athletic Director Todd Stewart’s words – putting seven-win teams, regardless of how you do it, in first is “the most fair way to do it.”

So, which matchup has you most excited? Do you agree with a team like WKU getting in over one of the other 6-6 teams? Let us know below in a comment or on twitter @WaveTheRedTowel.
