Bowl Speculation: Hilltoppers to play Bahamas Bowl?

The bowl confirmations have started to come in, and ESPN’s Brett McMurphy has reported a source saying where the C-USA champion Thundering Herd will play for the bowl season.

This is the first “reported,” bowl game from the conference, but it sets everything else in motion. More specifically for the Hilltoppers, it means they’ll most likely be heading to the Bahamas to participate in the inaugural Popeyes Bahamas Bowl – which, yes, is a Christmas Eve matchup against a MAC team. The MAC is who the Tops faced in the 2012 Little Ceaser’s Pizza Bowl.

Speaking of that LCPB, it was projected by Phil Steele that the Tops would once again face the Chippewas of Central Michigan in the Boca Raton bowl. And, while that’s the game Marshall is going to, the possibility of that rematch is still very possible, as McMurphy is reporting that Bowling Green State and Western Michigan have already accepted bowl bids as well.

Of course, nothing is official until three this afternoon, but Steele’s matchup prediction, again, isn’t out of the question. Toledo and Ohio are two other possibilities. Personally, I’d like to play Ohio. It’d be a battle of the fight songs – they also use Stand Up and Cheer.

Nothing is official yet, I cant reiterate that enough, but if what we’ve been hearing/thinking is the case, no Boca means yes Bahamas. Get your passports ready!
