Who’s Hot? Who’s Not? Iris Dunn named Player of the Week

For the first time since we’ve started our weekly Hot or Not segment, we really have standout performances that are no doubt worthy of being Hot.

HOT. Iris Dunn became the first ever Lady Topper soccer player to win a C-USA weekly award, as she was named Offensive Player of the Week after netting two goals in the 4-3 OT win over the MTBR’s on Friday. Dunn scored the first of the match in the 30th minute, and quickly evened the game up at 2-2 with a penalty kick less than 15 seconds after the Raiders took their first lead at 2-1. On the year, the sophomore has three goals in the past three games for the Lady Tops, who jumped from ninth place to sixth place after the 2-0 weekend.. Forward. WKU Soccer. IRIS DUNN

HOT. Her senior year hasn’t even tipped-off yet, and Chastity Gooch is already having a season to remember, having already brought home three preseason honors, and had a good showing in her senior year of Hilltopper Hysteria. Saturday, she logged eight points and five rebounds in 20 minutes of play for the losing Red team, and last week was not only named to the C-USA Presason All-Conference team, but was named preseason Player of the Year as well. There are a bounty of reasons to frequent a WKU Lady Toppers basketball game this year, and Gooch might just be the reason.. Forward. Lady Topper Basketball. CHASTITY GOOCH

However, we are tired of seeing the WKU defense perform the way they do week in and week out, and below you’ll hear us complain more. Sorry, guys.

Allowed 619 yards to FAU. Given up 10 leads four times. WKU DEFENSE. NOT. Giving up 500 yards in the second half is inexcusable and unacceptable. Giving up a 24-7 lead is inexcusable and unacceptable. Not correcting obvious mistakes from the UAB game to Saturdays game, with a bye week in-between, is inexcusable. WKU fans keep saying that the Hilltoppers are much better than their 2-4 record indicates, but I’m not so sure I can agree with that. The defense, in all honesty, hasn’t played well all season, and they make up half the team. Unless they can stop someone, anyone, really, this will not be a team that is under performing.

67 total rush yards. WKU Football. WKU RUNNING GAME. NOT. Also, what in the world has happened to the WKU running game? Are <a href=
