Yesterday, the Lady Toppers soccer and volleyball squads closed weekend play/opened the athletic week by splitting competitions, with a loss at home and a victory on the road.

The Lady Tops dropped their first ever home C-USA match, as the 49ers found the back of the net three times in a 14-minute span in the second half to hand WKU their second straight loss, and the Lady Tops moved to 1-2 in conference play. The Lady Tops were outshot 12-6, but a bulk of the WKU shots came in the second half. The Lady’s will get back to it Friday at home against UTEP.

The volleyball team, on the otherhand, remains perfect in C-USA play, after sweeping the Lady Owls in straight sets, 25-21, 26-24, 25-18. Alyssa Cavanaugh and Noelle Langenkamp both notched double-digit kills, and Jessica Lucas racked up 38 assists as well as recorded seven assists, trailing Mollie Pajakowski with nine and Georgia O’Connell with 13. Travis Hudson’s team will return to Diddle Arena tomorrow to begin a three game homestand, and will face the 49ers, Thundering Herd and Mean Green.
