They bye week is nearly officially over, and the Hilltoppers are ready to take the field again, this time as they do battle with Navy for the fourth and final time in their current home and home series agreement.

The Hilltoppers will be making their first trip back since 2009, and are looking to finish the series with an even 2-2 record after shocking the Midshipmen last year in Bowling Green.

If you’re not doing so already, follow us on twitter, and below, you can find a live stream of our tweets if you don’t feel like wading through the clutter of your timeline on this gameday. As always, please feel free to interact with us both during and after the game, and all throughout the week.

Now for prediction time! Let’s see what our staff has to say about today, and if they see a WKU win in their sights.

Fletcher Keel, editor (1-2) – If the Hilltoppers lose today, they’ll have matched their worse record to start a year since 2011. And we all know what happened in 2011. WKU plays Navy close, but I don’t see the defense making the proper adjustments just yet. I envision a, at most, touchdown victory for the Midshipmen, as Keenan Reynolds gets the job done through the air once again, just like he did last week against Rutgers. Sorry Tops fans, but I’m going with the bad guys today.

Marcus Browning, staff writer (0-3) – As much as I hope that I’m wrong, I just don’t see the Hilltoppers earning the win today. Even with the bye week for the defense to get their act together, we saw Austin Grammer just humiliate the Tops in the first half at MTSU, and I don’t think you can completely fix a defense in two weeks. Especially when your next matchup is against a quarterback like Keenan Reynolds, who set an NCAA single season record last year with 31 rushing TD’s by a QB. The Tops offense will keep on trucking like it has been, but yet again I feel like the defense will be WKU’s pitfall this outing. The Hilltoppers lose to the Midshipmen 38-28.

Will Puckett, staff writer (2-1) – The Hilltoppers march into Annapolis coming off a bye week where, hopefully, they found their defensive identity. In the previous game, WKU allowed Austin Gramer of MTSU to rush for a career high 125 yards. The Tops defense must stop the run in order to have any hope. The WKU offense will produce like usual. Limit turnovers. Doughty needs to use his tight ends a little bit more. Hilltoppers win 42-28.

Wally Hughes, staff writer (first week) – The Hilltoppers defense hasn’t showed me any sign through the first three games that they can slow down a triple option offense. That being said, today’s game will be a gut check. The Tops can’t afford to drop to 1-3, and I’m predicting they show up following a bye week prepared with a gameplan for a win. Tops edge the Midshipmen in this one, 31-27.

How do you see today’s game going? Will we be standing up and cheering to victory? Or will it be another long heartbreaking week in preparation for UAB? Let us know below with a comment or on twitter @WaveTheRedTowel.
