Hilltoppers vs. Blue Riaders live tweet stream and staff picks

WKU kicks off CUSA play tonight, and there is no better team to do it against than the Blue Raiders, who after two games this season, seem to be very similar teams. Both teams rolled over week one competition (although, Bowling Green State is far more of an impressive win than Savannah State), while losing on the road to a Big Ten opponent last week.

We will be in Murfreesboro tonight to bring you live tweets, and if you’re too lazy to head over to our twitter page, you can find our tweet stream right below!

Through two weeks, Will and myself have split our predictions, while poor Marcus can’t seem to get a guess right. Here are this weeks predictions:

Fletcher Keel, editor (1-1) – WKU played a whale of a first half last week, and went into half time with a lead. MTSU allowed 28 first half points, but scored 24 in the second half to make it interesting. Someone asked me the other day how I thought the game would play out, and they asked specifically “do you think the game will come down to the last possession?” and I responded “yes, I do.” But not in the traditional sense. I expect the Tops to have a killer first half, the Raiders to have a fantastic second half, and which ever defense can make the final stop of the game, will win the game. But, I have to name a team here, so I’m going to say the Tops will take the victory. They’re hungry to play MTSU again, it’s the first ever CUSA game and they know they left a W back in Champaigne. As Leon Allen said last week, “11-1 sounds pretty good.”

Marcus Browning, staff writer (0-2) – I am expecting an all out fight this evening, as these two teams collide for the first time in C-USA, and I think whoever wins this battle will do so with a late 4th quarter drive. The Hilltopper offense will continue to make strides down the field. This game will be determined by if the Tops’ defense can stop the air attack from MTSU. I think after a week of tough practice, the WKU defense will do its best not to suffer the same fate it did against Illinois. Thus, bringing my prediction that WKU will travel home from Murfreesboro with a close 34-31 victory.

Will Puckett, staff writer (1-1) – The Hilltoppers roll into Murfreesboro hungry for their first Conference USA win after a poor showing against Illinois. That being said, the Tops offense rolsl but their defense isn’t strong enough to hold the pass game of MTSU. WKU will drop a heart breaker.
