C-USA Football Scoreboard: Louisiana Tech wallops North Texas

Week three of the college football began last night with a cross-divisional C-USA match-up, and the Bulldogs proved that they could be for real in football this year.

Louisiana Tech 42 – North Texas 21
If not for a 21 point second quarter by Louisiana Tech, the Mean Green would have found themselves in a much closer ballgame. The first 15 minutes went without a point, but three touchdown passes from Cody Sokol gave LA Tech the 21-0 halftime lead. The Mean Green would punch one in from five yards out, and add two more rushing scores in the fourth quarter, but it would be too little too late, as Sokol would pass for two more touchdowns in the second half to seal the deal. He’d finish with 243 yards on 20/31 passing and had an interception to accompany his five touchdown passes. Louisiana tech would finish with 371 total yards of offense while holding North Texas to just 279, but the Mean Green held the ball for just over a minute longer than the Bulldogs.

It’s a conference wide off day tomorrow before everyone finds themselves in action, with the Tops and Blue Raiders being the only conference game outside of this one.

FIU, Marshall, UAB, Old Dominion, FAU and UTEP will all be at home, while Southern Miss, UTSA and Rice will hit the road in non-conference affairs.
