The past two days of CUSA women’s soccer competition has seen a combined 21 goals scored by Conference USA teams and an astounding zero by the competition. Only one game was in action last night, so lets get right to it.

UTEP 5 – New Mexico State 0
The Miners improved to 2-0-1 on the year after a dismantling of the Lady Aggies, scoring four goals in the first half en route to the 5-nil victory. The first goal of the game was scored less than 120 seconds from kickoff, and all of the first half scoring was done by the 27th minute. Lady Miner Bri Barreiro scored her first two goals of the season – a header in the 27th minute as well as a second half goal, again on a header, in the 56th – as well as gave a helping hand on the third goal of the game in the 22nd minute. UTEP goalie (who, like WKU’s goalie last year Nora Abolins, is Canadian) Sarah Dilling recorded a seven save shutout. UTEP outshot the Aggies 13-8.

Tonight will see an off night before a full schedule of games tomorrow. Marshall (Eastern Illinois), North Texas (Houston), Florida Atlantic (Pepperdine), UTSA (Kansas), Charlotte (Costal Carolina), UAB (Davidson), Middle Tennessee (Lipscomb), Rice (Lamar) and FIU (Santa Clara) will all play away from their home institutions, while only Southern Miss (Jackson State), Louisiana Tech (Lewis), Old Dominion (VCU) and UTEP (Incarnate Word) will play home contests.
