Ray Harper announced earlier today that another member will join his squad for the 2014-15 campaign; Rob Marberry out of Nashville, Tennessee. Marberry, a 6 -8 forward was named the Division II-A Mr. Basketball, averages 16 points per outing, eight rebounds, three blocked shots, and 1.5 assists. He completed his senior year at Franklin Road Academy out of Nashville where he lead his Panther team to the state championship, but were unable to capture the crown. Their season ended with an impressive record of 26-9.

Marberry was also named District MVP his junior and senior year at the Academy, while also being an All-Region Tournament selection both his sophomore and junior season. Rob finished out his high school career with over 1500 points and 850 rebounds.

Marberry will walk on to the Hilltopper squad for this upcoming campaign and will wear the number 33. Ray Harper also had multiple things to say about Rob for the upcoming year.

"“Rob has great toughness and brings a high basketball IQ. He is a gritty, dive-on-the-floor type of player, and he comes from a great program and family. He is an unselfish player, which stems from an unselfish character which you can see by his decision to walk on this season. We are thrilled to have Rob and his family in our program.”"

Marberry opted to play for WKU over offers to walk on from schools such as Middle Tennessee, Belmont, Florida Gulf Coast and Toledo. Rob joins fellow incoming freshmen Derrick Clayton, Jordan Green, Avery Patterson, and a Mr. Kentucky basketball finalist Justin Johnson. Mayberry and Johnson, aside from the Mr. Basketball nominations, also shared a summer high school team, the Kentucky Travelers, so that can only be good for the building of a young incoming group.
