WKU Women’s Basketball Releases Inaugural C-USA Schedule

We can’t forget about the ladies, now, can we?! On the same day WKU released the men’s 2014/15 schedule, the Lady Toppers released their inaugural Conference USA schedule, which just like the men’s, features 18 games with nine home and away.

The C-USA season kicks off on January 4th with a three game road swing to Marshall, Charlotte and Old Dominion before coming home to play their first ever C-USA game in Diddle against old Sun Belt foes in Florida Atlantic (Jan. 15) and Florida International (Jan. 17).

The travel will be a little more intensive for Michelle Clark-Heard’s squad, as they’ll have to travel out west to all four Texas schools, but unlike the men, will get to host MTSU, who are the defending C-USA women’s champions and also made the NCAA Tournament a season ago.

Joining MTSU, FAU and FIU in Diddle will be Marshall, Charlotte and Old Dominion (who are the Lady’s home-and-home opponents, along with the two Florida schools), UAB, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech. ODU and LA Tech both have along history against WKU, dating back to the OVC days, and those will be fun games to see as hopefully those rivalries will be renewed quickly.

Again, unlike the men, the Lady’s will finish at home (against the 49ers and Monarchs) before the Conference USA tournament in Birmingham, but as of now, no date has been set.

What games are you looking forward to in-conference this year? I sincerely hope the rivalries with Old Dominion and LA Tech are renewed, quickly, and many people might not realize it, but there’s some bad blood between the Tops and FAU as well, which will be fun to see if it carries over. Let us know below or on twitter what you’ll be looking for this year as the Lady’s get ready to dominate new terrain.
