Andrew Jackson Gets Love from Colts Blog

Andrew Jackson was recently the feature of a piece on SBNation’s Colts blog, Stampede Blue, which broke down his strengths and weaknesses. Nothing really came as a shock in either assessment; in strengths, his personal strength (especially in the legs) and tackling skills are noted, and in weaknesses, it talks about his tendency to want to make the highlight hit and his lack of speed to contain the outside.

What is interesting about this assessment though, is what is brought at the end of the article in a conclusion:

"Jackson is the ideal two down, 3-4 ILB. He’s a terror attacking the line of scrimmage and will be an excellent addition as a two down. His work ethic is a question mark after seeming to sit on his laurels after a strong junior season."

Honestly, I had never thought about this scenario, but it makes all sorts of sense that Jackson could be put in on some defensive packages on the goal line if he has the strength to power through a line like he did against Kentucky and make some big plays. The author of the article also compares Jackson to Brandon Spikes, who was also a limited 3-4 ILB.
