Earlier today, the WKU Hilltoppers athletic department released the soccer schedule for 2014, their first as a member of Conference-USA.

The defending regular season Sun Belt champions, and SBC Tourney runners-up, Lady Toppers will face a total of 10 first time opponents, with seven of those being first-time Conference-USA derbies. The non-conference schedule will be packed again, as it looks to be quite the challenge to the WKU squad. Some of the non-conference opponents making the trip to the Hill include Murray State, Mercer, Evansville, and even Tennessee.

Associate Head Coach Chris Tinius commented on his excitement heading into the coming season.

"“We are very much looking forward to our first season competing in Conference USA. I think our players, coaches and fans are excited about a mixture of renewed rivalries and new opponents.”"

The Lady Tops will open up their inaugural season in the C-USA with a two game road challenge against Marshall and Old Dominion. WKU will also get to play host to its rival, Middle Tennessee State, on October 17th, which will give freshman from last year (most notably, Iris Dunn, Caitlin Hesse and Alex Lonnemann) their first taste at the 90 Miles of Hate.

In all, there will be nine home contests for the ladies, and the season will conclude for the Lady Toppers on the road on Halloween night against North Texas. The 2014 Conference USA soccer tournament will take place in Charlotte, N.C. in November.
