WKU Linebacker Nick Holt Arrested

News broke several minutes ago from Jeff Woods of WBKO that earlier this morning, WKU linebacker Nick Holt was arrested and later released from Warren County jail this afternoon. Holt was arrested on charges of alcohol intoxication in a public place, resisting arrest and 2nd degree disorderly conduct.

Bowling Green Daily News’ WKU beat writer, Chad Bishop, tweeted this photo after Woods broke the news:

Holt, who is the son of WKU defensive coordinator Nick Holt (Sr. I’m assuming?), is a JUCO transfer from the City College of San Francisco, and recorded 61 tackles last season, including 32 solo tackles. 7.5 of those tackles went for a loss, and was able to swoop in for 1.5 sacks.

Holt is going to be a great addition to a linebacker corps that have already seen one alum go pro, and that presence is going to be sorely missed, but hopefully Holt can be one of the guys to come in and pick up the slack…if the stays out of trouble that is.

WKU, while at times, can play with the best of programs, usually has one advantage over the big programs – usually quiet off seasons (unless, of course, the head coach is Bobby Petrino).

I know one thing is for sure, it wont be a very pleasant night in the Holt household, and it’ll be interesting to see what, if any, punishment comes down. After all, this is a fairly common offense, especially in a college town like Bowling Green.
