Number two to be taken was Jonathan Dowling. Dowling was the 247th pick to the Oakland Raiders in the 7th round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Dowling is moving into a secondary that features veteran safety Charles Woodson, but someone who is on the downside of his career, which could turn out to be the greatest thing to ever happen to J-Dowl. Dowling is a loud mouth who has an uncoachable instinct for finding the ball in the air, but can’t seem to get it done in the tackling aspect of football. Woodson (a Heisman trophy winner) can help Dowling in learning how to be a better ball-hawk but also helping in run support. At first glance, this might not be a sweet move, but on the other hand, Dowling fits right into the old school Raiders way of life. I think this is a perfect fit – like a glove.
