With the 203rd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select…Andrew Jackson, inside linebacker, WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY!
The first Hilltopper has heard his name get called from the podium, and he is joining Jack Doyle in Indianapolis. Looks like Jackson’s gamble has paid off, so far, as the Colts want to see what he is made of.
Jackson finished 2013 with 56 total tackles and 8.5 of them going for a loss. All throughout the pre-draft process, the Colts were listed as a team that needed the linebacker position filled up, and Old Hickory is a good guy to do it
On the ESPN highlight segment of Jackson after the draft, Mel Kieper said that Jackson has, and will in the pros, make his living between the tackles, and all signs (as of right now) point to him staying in the middle for the Colts. However, along with learning how to play as a professional, Jackson is going to have to grow up a lot, as every website lists his immaturity as a con, and if he isn’t careful, he will see a tremendous opportunity go to waste.
Jackson is just the fourth player Indianapolis has selected this draft, joining Ohio St.’s Jack Mewhort, Mississippi’s Donte Moncrief and Ball St.’s Jonathan Newsome.
