The second seeded Lady Toppers will finish up day two of their final Sun Belt Conference tournament by taking on the third seeded, and defending champions, Arkansas Little-Rock Trojans.
The Lady Tops had to overcome a 10-point deficit on Wednesday against the Ragin Cajuns to live to see another day, and it marked just the fourth time this season that Michelle Clark-Heard’s squad had over come a double-digit deficit in order to win. WKU is also riding an eight game winning streak, with the first five of those W’s coming by an average margin of 24 points.
In their comeback win, WKU was lead by 21 points and 14 rebounds from Chastity Gooch, followed by 10 points from Chanell Lockhart. In many regards an off night, WKU is going to need repeated production from Gooch and Lockhart, as well as redshirt freshman Kendall Noble and Micah Jones to step up.
UALR made it to this afternoon by beating Troy 66-54. Little Rock was lead by 21 points from Taylor Ford, and three other Lady Trojans reached double digits.
The two teams split their regular season meetings, with each team winning in their home arena. This is going to be a dandy of a ball game, and while you’re waiting for the WKU men to tip off tomorrow, this should hold you over. Both of these teams play very sound basketball, and like to score. It’ll no doubt be close, and very might well be the best game the women’s tournament sees this year.
Best of luck to MCH and her girls, and we hope to be talking about a Lady Topper win later!
Stand up and cheers.
