Texas-Arlington and ULM are getting set to tip-off the second game of the 2014 Sun Belt tournament in New Orleans, and get play in the bottom half of the bracket started.

The Mavericks (14-16, 9-9) come to NOLA as the 6th seed, while ULM (10-16, 7-11) comes in as the 7th.

The Mavericks  swept the regular season series, winning in Arlington in overtime by a score of 83-79, and in Monroe 85-74. While Reger Dowell leads the team in points per game (20.2), it was Lonnie McClanahan who lead the Mavs in each of the two matchups against the ‘Hawks (14.3 ppg), scoring 25 in the overtime game, and 23 in the win at ULM.

The Warhawks finished the regular season with two double-digit scorers, Tylor Ongwae (16.1 ppg) and Amos Olatayo (13.2 ppg). Ongwae put up 20+ in both games against UTA, while Olatayo only played in one of the matchups, but did net over 20 himself as well.

The Warhawks lead the league in free throw shooting, both in free throws made (241) and percentage (65.5%), but they are middle of the pack or bottom in the league in everything else. The Mavs don’t lead the Sun Belt in anything, but are second in the Belt with a 66.4 free throw shooting percentage, and are bottom of the barrel in just about everything else.

Unlike what we saw with the opening game of the tournament (well, at least, the first half of it), this might be a very ugly, low scoring game.

The winner of this match-up, with a win tonight and tomorrow, will square off with WKU on Saturday.
