Louisiana Monroe Warhawks (4-3 overall, 2-2 this week)
Louisiana Monroe was picked to finish in the bottom of the conference (but still garnered a single first-place vote. Pretty impressive if you ask me), but have started the season strong, above the .500 mark and coming off an even week. ULM isn’t as consisent offensively like Georgia State or in-state ULL are, but they have some hitters. Three every-day guys are currently above .300 at the plate, lead by Ross Moore with a .364 mark. Dalton Herrington is the big force on the scoreboard, as he has five RBI to start the year. On the mound, starting pitching is nothing to take lightly, but if you can outlast that and get to the bullpen, you’re in business. It’s a small sample size to begin the year, but there are four guys in the ‘Hawks pen with double-digit ERA’s. Ouch. Alex Hermeling (6 innings), Cody Connally and Logan Dopson (each 3 innings) have yet to surrender a run in their apperances this year, and Chad Miller has a sub-one ERA in 9.1 innings pitched.
