Post Game: Tops 79 – UALR 78

INSANE! Can it get any better than a last second shot to win on the road?!

In a game with what seemed like the tables were turned opposite to how things went down, except for the intensity late. The Trojans maintained control of the points margin heading late into the second half. At that point in time I was shaking my head in embarrassment as the Tops seemed to just give the lead away as UALR would go on an 15-0 run. From then on the Tops would make their way back into the game little by little, and would tie things up with under two minutes to play. The Trojans would then find a one possession lead until the closing second. Three point one left in the game, the Tops would run it down the court. Jackson jumps for the three… and it swooshes in!

For the Trojans they put up a fight and was just a few milliseconds away from the win. Their point were spread all around and had many contributors. James White had the game I expected, as he finished out with 14 points and 9 rebounds. SBC Player of the Week Will Neighbour on the other hand, was nonexistent in this one. Neighbour only had 6 points and 2 rebounds. UALR also had two bench players to combine for 31 points, which really game them momentum and allowed their offense to get rolling. As a team the totals were 52% from the floor, 70% from 3 point range, and 72% from the charity stripe. The Trojans didn’t have a bd game, they were just one shot short of winning!

Now for the Hilltoppers! Oh man, what a finish, I still can’t get over it! The Tops needed to make their shots and they did just that. They needed their rebounding spread across the board, and it was. They needed people to come off the bench and do work, it happened. Lastly, the Tops needed Brandon harris to step up, and he did. The Tops shot average, turned the ball over 17 times, and still had the chance to win the game at the last second. In which they obviously did, all thanks to Trency Jackson. The high points men were Trency Jackson with 20, and Brandon Harris (who truly needed to step up with Kaspar’s absence) knocked down 15. In the end, the Hilltoppers came in clutch late and were able to secure the win along with a 6 game win streak!

It was such an exciting game and if you missed it then I feel sorry for you! Make sure to go to your twitter account and tweet out #SCTOP10 to get Trency Jackson on the highlight reel. Hope you have an enjoyable evening and celebrate with this epic victory!
