The Lady Toppers welcomed in a winless team in Sun Belt play and the Tops took advantage. WKU will sleep well tonight after defeating UT Arlington 59-46. The tops leading scorer was Bianca McGee with 17 and Micah Jones had 16. Chastity Gooch posted a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Western was “out rebounded and out hustled” in the first half according to coach Michelle Clark Herd. Only two Mavs had double digits with Seniors Brianna Walker and Desharra Nwanguma scoring 17 and 11 points respectively. The game lacked offense in the first half as the Tops were only shooting 16.8 percent at the first TV timeout. Arlington pulled ahead 16-14 but managed to be cooled down by back-to-back threes from Bianca McGee. WKU opened up the second half with a 9-2 run shooting 60 percent from the floor with UTA shooting 24 percent. In terms of climbing the ladder the Tops knock out another rung in their pursuit of the Sun Belt title.
