What a first day of classes it was for Chastity Gooch.
First off, to begin the day, Ms. Gooch was named the National Mid-Major Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com. Gooch was honored after averaging 26.5 points and 9 boards this past week in wins over Louisiana Monroe and Louisiana Layfaette, including posting a career high 31 points in WKU’s comeback win over the Warhawks, as well as became the 35th player in Lady Topper history to reach the 1,000 point plateu. Gooch also grabbed her 700th career rebound in the same contest.
Later in the afternoon, Gooch was honored by the Sun Belt by being named SBC Player of the Week for the third time this season (11/19 and 1/06).
Gooch will look to capitalize on these honors, as well as eye a repeat, as she will lead the Lady Tops against the Texas schools this week in Diddle Arena. UT-Arlington comes to town tomorrow night, and Texas State will dawn the floor Saturday.
Contrats, Chastity, and best of luck for the rest of the season.
Stand up and cheers.
