An Open Letter To Bobby Petrino
Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports
Dear Coach Petrino,
While your 13 months here on the Hill might end up being a blip in your coaching career, and one you hardly ever think about again, I want to thank you for what you did for the program, athletic department, and school. You made Western Kentucky football somewhat of a talking point around the nation, and while the team was already on the rise and would at some point reach some sort of national recognition, you helped sky rocket it. Without your presence around, the move to C-USA isn’t happening in July, it’s happening months later (if at all).
As a student and fan, you being our head coach for the 2013 season will be something I never forget, and something that I can hang my hat on and be proud of. WKU took a chance on you, and yes, the team lost a couple of games they shouldn’t have, and yes, the team didn’t get picked to a bowl game, but you were far from a disappointment. Never before has WKU football had so much hype and excitement around it, and it’ll be quite the day when that hype and excitement returns. (The new unis were a nice touch, too.)
I wish you all the best of luck at Louisville, and it’s going to bring a smile to my face every time your career is talked about. Because you spent 2013 on the Hill.
Thank you Coach. Go Tops,
Fletcher Keel from Wave The Red Towel
