Bobby Petrino to Louisville
Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports
Well, we can’t say it wasn’t coming.
And, while not official, it’s all but. Bobby Petrino will be leaving the Hill after only one season, leading WKU to their best ever FBS record of 8-5, to return down the road to I-65 and rejoin the Louisville Cardinals, where he was from 2003-2006 and lead the school to their first ever BCS birth and victory.
It isn’t all bad for WKU. Yes, they play 2014 under their 3rd coach in as many seasons, but Petrino’s buyout was over $1M and the Cards & Tops will play a home-and-home in football within the next 12 years.
I tweeted earlier that WKU fans shouldn’t feel anything negative, and jokingly said that Tops fans should be happy he stayed throughout the entire season.
We will have more information as it becomes available, and will also bring you interviews from some people who know WKU best.
Stand up and cheers.
