GAMEDAY: Tops vs. Rebels

Buckle up yall, tonight could get a little crazy.

Aside from more than 6,000+ expected tonight inside Diddle Arena, the Tops, fresh off a 103-65 route of Brescia, welcome in the Fighting Bjork’s…I mean Ole Miss Rebels…into BG tonight for a much anticipated matchup.

What’s on the line? Well, for starters, WKU is rocking a 12-game non-conference home winning streak, and what better way to get things going heading into a tough conference schedule than knocking off one of the big boys…at least in name…and showing good ol’ Ross what he’s missing out on back on the Hill.
Ole Miss has one more non-conf. game following this one, a battle vs. Dayton, before opening SEC play against Auburn, and are coming off of just their third loss of the season, but it came to the hands of the Mercer Bears. (Yes, most of you are asking “who is that?”, but they were a win away from taking FGCU’s spot in the NCAA Tournament last year. Oh, by the way, Mercer is a small Christian college in Macon, GA, about 90 minutes south of downtown Atlanta).

Marshall Henderson, possibly the best and biggest name in the SEC outside of that other school in the Bluegrass, notched 18 points and 3 dimes in the loss, and leads the Rebels for the season in scoring, averaging 18.7 points per contest. On the glass, Ole Miss is lead by Aaron Jones, grabbing just under 7 per time out.

George Fant and T.J. Price, no surprise, lead the Tops in scoring vs. Brescia, with George hitting 23 and T.J. finished with 19. Fant also lead the way in boards with 7.

While Ole Miss is statistically better than the Tops in most area’s, WKU has the advantage in free throw percentage, which hopefully the game wont come to, but if it does, the Tops have the slight advantage.

Rebounds will again be a key for WKU, and Marshall Henderson must be stopped if WKU has any hope and chance of winning.

That loss to Mercer doesn’t look good for Ole Miss, so they are going to come out with some fire.

I think the Tops will stick with what they put out on Saturday and go Adeoye, Fant, Trency, Brandon Harris and T.J.

It’s going to be a heck of a ballgame, and hopefully WKU will play up to Ole Miss, and not slow their roll at halftime.
